The Columbine Country Club Golf Course in the Town of
Columbine Valley suffered frequent damage and high maintenance costs due
to the flooding of Dutch Creek. Love & Associates, Inc. was retained by
both the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District and the Town of
Columbine Valley to design one mile of 7400 cubic feet per second capacity
channel improvements within the Columbine Country Club.
The Dutch Creek improvements called for a sensitive design which would
retain and enhance the character of the area. Dutch Creek is a
particularly prominent feature where it penetrates the golf course.
Using state-of-the-art engineering techniques, a park-like appearance was
designed by continually undulating channel slope and configuration with
respect to adjacent features. At the same time, constant flood velocities
were maintained, thereby minimizing erosion and sedimentation.
Services included channel design, design of low water crossing bridges,
bridge design, road replacement design, detour design, utility
relocations, landscape design and restoration, 404 Permitting, wetland
delineation, mitigation and design of replacement wetlands, preparation of
landscape and irrigation restoration plan and construction observation. |
